Lent is a season of journeying. It’s a reminder of the 40 days which Jesus endured in the wilderness, but even more, of Jesus’ journey to the cross. We, too, enter into Lent with a journey in mind, obeying the command to take up our own crosses. Just as Jesus carried the cross for us, we are called to take up the cross and follow Him. It is for this reason you are invited to pick up a small wooden cross located at either entrance of the sanctuary and carry it with you for the 40 days of Lent. Remind yourself, as you carry it, what is God asking you to sacrifice, to let go of; to remind yourself of the sacrifice of Christ made for you.
We also encourage you to be faithful in joining us for Sunday worship here at Zion and joining with the broader church for the Prince St. Lenten Services.
And finally, we encourage you to choose one of the suggested devotionals in the links below to make your journey, a daily sojourn. For when we follow these disciplines through the season of Lent, it enriches our experience of the true meaning of Easter and what it means to live a resurrection life.
