The Missions Committee
What We Do
The Missions Committee is involved in reaching out with God's love to our
community and our world. It is the goal of the Missions Committee to
educate, inspire and challenge the congregation in its mission locally,
nationally, and internationally, coordinating the mission projects of our
congregation and working with other churches and agencies to make a difference
in the name of Jesus in our community and world.
Special Campaigns
The Missions Committee will be presenting two
special campaigns to the congregation each year, with a goal of making a
significant Missions impact locally and internationally.
Our Special Campaign for 2007 was the Canadian Foodgrains Bank. Thanks to
the congregation's response, and 4-1 matching funds provided by the Canadian
International Development Agency, we will have provided sufficient food supplies
to feed over 140 families for an entire year! The Committee will provide
updates of this project to the congregation throughout the year, and will
organize a new 2008 Christmas campaign.
Additionally, watch for an upcoming special spring project to assist Camp
Keir in its Mission to the youth of our church and Island.
Ongoing Support
Your envelope contributions help us provide omoing
monthly support for two main Missions - Shepherd's Farm and Camp Keir.
Stephen and Cindy Cousin's Shepherd's Farm works with troubled youth,
addiction issues, international students, and a host of other local concerns;
additionally, Stephen is involved in evangelism outreach through agricultural
development projects in the Congo.
Camp Keir is a dynamic outreach and mission to Presbyterian
and other Island youth. Over the last 60 years of its ministry, Camp Keir
has been the source of many a young person's commitment to Christ. As a
continuing source of impact to our youth, we look forward to partnering with the
Camp
in its much -needed outreach and support to young people.
